Ukraine inclines to be one of the most attractive destinations in the World. The country Ukraine still preserves a wild undiscovered Beauty and a nature virgin charm.
Historical heritage, fascinating landscapes and Ukrainian women attract attention of people all over the world. Ukrainian territory possess of the Black and Azov
Seas, Crimean Pininsula, The Carpathians Mountains, The Dnipro river banks, above 70, 000 rivers and rivulets, about 14% from the square of Ukraine are forests,
parks and nature reserves.
One of the most interesting areas of Ukraine is Podillya. Three oblasts of Ukraine come into its territory: Vinnytsya, Khmelnytsky and Ternopil.
The first mentiona about Podilly was found in Ukrainian chronicles in XIV c. The name of this etnographical region came from its location - the southwestern part of Kievan Rus – so the named was given correspondingly - “Lower Rus”. On the edge of both Poland and Russian Imperia, Podillya developed on the fringe and was never polish nor very Russian.
Podillya occupies the territory between Dnistro and Northern Bug Rivers. The following cities are located on the area of Podillya: Vinnytsa, Kamenets-Podilsky, Medzhybish, Uman, etc.
Administrative center and cultural union of Podillya was the city of Kamenets-Podilsky. Its Fortress was a major fortification against Tatars and Turkish armies. In general there a lot of Fortresses and Castles have been built on the territory of Podillya. Some constructions and ruins are still preserved till nowadays in Satanov, Letychev, Medzhybish, Bari, Shargorod and Khmelnyk.
Podillya is a rich by historical events, having good location, climatic conditions and geographica location this area became settled beginning from 3-4 c. B.C.E by Tripillia culture. There is a well known fact that the best soil in Ukraine is from Podillya. The image of a golden wheat fields under the blue sky describes the role of Podillya throughout the history…
Noteworthy places of Podillya:
- Kamenets-Podilsky castle of XIV-th century, one of the most powerful and biggest Fortresses in Ukraine
- Museum of the world-renowned medical doctor Nikolay Pirogov in Vinnytsya
- Sofiyivsky Park in Uman (also called Sofiyivsky Park or Sofievka)
- The old Jewish village of Medzhybizh
- The Podilsky Tovtry National Nature Park
