Student Discovery
On the territory of Zakarpattya, a group of Ukrainian students of a history department, discovered ruins and numerous objects of old lifestyle and armory, which prove that there was a castle construction of the XIV-th century in the area. The students were doing training excavations under the guidance of their teacher, when they discovered the unique objects of the old culture and lifestyle. Among the excavated objects, there are parts of armory of that time, musket’s bullets, copper plates, coins of the time of Hungarian Prince Ferdinand I, and ceramics of the XVI-th century.
Ruins of one more castle were found on the hill Boduliv in Zakarpattya region. Archaeologists assume that this fortress had never served to protect people though, because it was ruined right after it had been erected.
During several years now, the Ukrainian Carpathians have been actively studied by numerous archaeological researches. Another unique monument of archeology is Ezupil. During the excavation works there, bones of mammoth, horn-nose, north deer and other unique animals were found; according to historians, these animals became prays of ancient hunters hundreds of thousands of years ago.
