It is the time when annual "National Sorochinskiy yarmarok" takes place. This is the only fair in Ukraine that since 1999 according to the
President's edict has the status of national.
It gives a great chance for more than 200 trade and manufacturing organization to merchandise their goods and extend economic ties with different Ukrainian and foreign companies. But not only manufactured goods are sold there. Folk arts are widely represented by craftsmen from every region. Tourists do not leave Sorochinsy without a souvenir. It may be an admirable national Ukrainian dress embroidered by hand, lively pottery, or even a luxurious carpet woven on an antique loom.
This year the best Ukrainian beekeepers are going to offer their delicious health-giving production.
But people come to Sorochintsy not only to buy or to sell something. The fair is a real show in the open air that goes according to old peculiar folk traditions. Many officials (among which are ambassadors from different countries) participate in the merrymaking. Plenty of various games and competitions are organized during the fair. Men can compete for the title of the strongest person and women can gain a prize for the best braid. For those who is tired and hungry numerous numbers of vareniki and others dishes of Ukrainian cuisine are sold everywhere. And of course all the events are accompanied by folk music or famous Ukrainian popstars.
